Why specimens are needed

Without comparison specimens, handwriting examination is often impossible or significantly limited. The date, conditions of execution, document type, writing instrument and naturalness of execution need to be taken into account.

Types of specimens

  • free: made before the dispute and not for examination;
  • conditionally free: made after the dispute arose, but outside the examination;
  • experimental: collected specifically for examination.
Preliminary assessment: send a photograph of the document and information about the specimens. It is preferable not to fold the original, trace over the signature or add marks beside the document element to be examined.
